General security that needs to be checked while you are online also include online financial / banking security, it's always good you check if a valid SSL certificate is being installed in the online banking webpage so that you can trust the website and provide your confidential banking information. And it's also good to use a Secure Instant Messenger and more over  don't disclose your personal details while you are in general chat rooms or over web messenger.
