KVM May Become the Choice For Linux Centric Virtualization
The Linux Foundation is Recommending KVM Over Xen
Apr. 17, 2009 09:19 AM
Interesting news coming from the Linux Foundation's annual Collaboration Summit in San Francisco, which ended last Friday.
At the event Jim Zemlin, executive director of the Linux Foundation, said "that moving forward, the Linux Foundation is encouraging vendors and developers to standardize on KVM, not Xen."
Not that it makes too much difference in the short term, but in the long term this may mean that KVM, which is included directly in the Linux Kernel may very well become the de-facto choice for linux centric virtualization. What makes this even more important is lately it seems that Linux & virtualization in general is at the heart of most major cloud computing initiatives. It's going to be very interesting to see how this plays out.
