Search News Desk Google Takes Another Crack at Enterprise Search
They have hauled out a next-generation yellow enterprise Search Appliance

Google has hauled out a next-generation yellow enterprise Search Appliance based as usual on a customized firewall-protected Dell PowerEdge The Linux-based widget is supposed to have a new architecture and new software as well as new hardware but is still years behind being avant-garde. GSA 6.0 or multiple ones strung together are supposed to scale to billion of corporate documents, fine tune search, automate repetitive tasks, and screen results according to policy. Google has tinkered with its algorithms and besides being more precise can now handle query suggestions and user-added results. It has also been internationalized and will translate for cross-language searches. The high-end box includes redundancy and either will integrate with SharePoint, but only SharePoint, one of its inherent limitations. Competitively it's at a disadvantage. The $30,000 GB7007 can index 500,000-10 million documents and the GB9009 can index 30 million. Google won't say what the 9009 costs.
